Sony XLR-H2 XLR Handle Unit

Overview

The Sony XLR-H2 XLR Handle Unit expands the audio capabilities of the Sony FX5 Cinema Camera by adding two combo XLR/TRS inputs and support for 96 kHz sampling with 32-bit float recording. It connects directly to the FX5's Multi Interface Shoe for a cable-free digital audio connection, giving filmmakers a straightforward way to capture higher quality sound without an external recorder. The handle also improves ergonomics, adding a comfortable grip with additional mounting points for accessories.

32-Bit Float Audio Recording

Recording at a 96 kHz sampling rate with 32-bit float depth removes the risk of clipped audio and delivers an exceptional dynamic range, so levels can be adjusted after the fact without degrading quality. The unit can also generate separate WAV files saved directly in-camera, speeding up the editing process.

Two Combo XLR/TRS Inputs

Dual combo XLR-1/4" inputs, along with a 3.5mm microphone input with plug-in power support, provide flexible connections for professional microphones and other audio sources. Dual ADCs and four-channel input allow multiple sources to be captured simultaneously.

Physical Controls and Dials

Physical controls and dials are positioned on the side of the handle, with covers in place to prevent accidental changes mid-take. An integrated microphone holder keeps a shotgun mic secure and within easy reach.

Cable-Free Multi Interface Shoe Mount

The handle mounts securely to the FX5's Multi Interface Shoe, providing a digital audio connection without the need for extra cables. Four 1/4"-20 accessory threads on the handle allow additional gear to be attached for a more complete rig.
