Part 5: Godox Light Modifiers
Shape, soften and support your light, from your first softbox to a full studio kit. Here's the range decoded, and which to actually buy.
Just want one good softbox? The Godox EazyFlow is the simplest, fastest way in: fold-flat storage, pop-open setup in about a second, and a Bowens speed ring that goes straight onto any Bowens-mount Godox light. Need more size options? The UL series covers everything from small fill boxes up to a huge 150cm octagon. Want more directional control, or something more packable? The QR-P70T quick-release parabolic sets up like an umbrella and packs down small.
On a tight budget, or building your first two-light kit? The FW / BW range gets you a genuine softbox at the most affordable end of the lineup. And don't forget the basics: a Godox umbrella, a 5-in-1 reflector and a solid light stand are the cheapest, easiest wins in the whole range.
A softbox, umbrella or reflector doesn't just soften your light, it's what turns a bare flash or LED into something that looks like it was shot in a real studio. Every modifier on this page uses Godox's Bowens mount, the same mount used by the SL and LE continuous lights in Part 2 and most of the AD-series and studio monolights in Part 4 (the round-head AD200-AD600 Pro II models need a Bowens adapter ring first, see that part's mount note). Shooting with an on-camera flash from Part 3 instead? Its own small clip-on diffusers and bounce cards are a different job, but you're not locked out of everything here: a Godox S2-type or S-type Bowens speedlite bracket lets any on-camera flash mount straight onto this same Bowens system, so a speedlight owner can still use the softboxes and umbrellas below.

SoftboxesThe main event: soften, shape and control your light, all on the same Bowens mount.
Every softbox here uses the same quick-release Bowens speed ring, so switching between them takes seconds. The Godox EazyFlow folds flat for storage and pops open in about a second, the simplest way to get a real softbox into your kit. Need more size options? The Umbrella-Style Softbox with Bowens Mount (UL Series) runs from a small 40x40cm fill box up to a huge 150cm octagon. Want that same quick-release convenience in a round, 16-sided parabolic shape instead of a box? The S65T/S85T/S105T (silver interior) and S85W/S105W (white interior) umbrella softboxes are built that way: silver for a punchier, higher-contrast look with more defined shadows; white for softer, more evenly diffused light that suits delicate portraiture better. On a budget, the FW and BW range gets you a genuine softbox at the cheapest end of the lineup: FW comes with a honeycomb grid included, BW doesn't have the recess to add one later, so buy FW instead if you think you'll want a grid eventually.

Sets up through the light like an umbrella rather than around it, with a silver reflective interior and front and inner diffusers. This shallower version packs down smaller than the deeper QR-P70; step up to that one for an even more focused beam.

A 16-sided parabolic softbox on the same quick-release Bowens mount, in your choice of interior. The S85T (silver) punches up contrast and output; the S85W (white) softens and evens it out. Also available in 65cm (S65T) and 105cm (S105T/S105W).

Godox SB-FW 60x90cm
Silver interior with a honeycomb grid included and the recess to use it. The cheaper SB-BW covers the same size without the grid recess, fine if you're certain you'll never want one, but FW is the safer buy if you might.

Umbrellas, Reflectors & Beauty DishesThe cheapest, fastest wins in the whole modifier range.
A Godox umbrella pops open in seconds and is the easiest sell in photography lighting: a plain white umbrella softens light through it, a parabolic umbrella bounces more light back for extra punch, and a diffuser cover turns any umbrella into a shoot-through softbox for a few extra dollars. A 5-in-1 reflector needs no light source of its own, just bounce or block natural light with black, silver, gold, white or translucent white surfaces folded into one disc. For a classic, punchy portrait look, a beauty dish sits between a bare light and a softbox: harder-edged than a softbox but softer than nothing bare. The traditional metal dish below is a fixed hard-mount design; Godox's newer EazyFlow beauty dish does the same job but folds flat for storage like the softboxes above, and comes in 65cm or 85cm, silver or white interior.

A projection attachment turns your light into a mini spotlight: instead of an even wash, it casts a focused, patterned shape (a gobo) onto your subject or background, a fun creative effect rather than an everyday need. There's no single "best" one, the right choice just depends on the light you're projecting through and your budget: BLP and BFP are full-featured lens-and-shutter-blade projectors matched to LED or flash respectively, while the BP-SE is the complete-kit option, built specifically for the Litemons LA-series and priced accordingly for what's in the box.

Light StandsThe unglamorous piece every kit still needs.
Every light and modifier on this page still needs something to hold it up. The Godox Aluminium 304 light stand is light and inexpensive enough to buy two or three without a second thought. Whatever modifier you land on, the Bowens mount is what ties this whole range together, the same mount your SL/LE lights (Part 2) and AD-series/studio monolights (Part 4) already use. Building a kit is mostly a matter of matching that mount, not re-buying anything else. On-camera flash (Part 3) is the exception: those use their own small clip-on modifiers instead of anything on this page.
