Worth knowing
The trade-off for the low weight and price is a slower variable aperture, f/8 by the time you're at 400mm, which limits how much light reaches the sensor at the long end. If you regularly shoot in low light, indoors, or need consistently fast shutter speeds at full zoom, that narrower aperture will show up as higher ISO or a slower shutter than you'd get from a faster telephoto. It also uses standard linear autofocus motors rather than Sony's higher-end XD motors, plenty fast for wildlife and sports in good light, just not the outright fastest-focusing option in Sony's lineup. It's also worth remembering that the effective aperture narrows further with a teleconverter attached, useful for extra reach in bright conditions, less so once the light drops.
