SmallRig FL-65 Quick Setup Folding Lantern Softbox (65 cm)

Overview

The SmallRig FL-65 Quick Setup Folding Lantern Softbox (65 cm) is a collapsible 8-sided octagon softbox built for photographers and videographers working with Bowens S-mount point-source lights. Its new-generation side-opening fold structure opens and closes the whole eight-rib frame in a single step, making it far quicker to set up and pack down than a traditional lantern softbox. Built from lightweight aluminum and fabric with high-strength stainless steel ribs, it opens to a 65 cm diameter for broad, wraparound light and folds flat to a compact 59.9 x 23.1 x 6.1 cm for transport. A silver reflective light-control skirt and a dedicated storage bag are included to help shape the light and keep the softbox protected between shoots.

One-Step Quick-Fold Setup

The eight ribs that form the octagon shape open and close together in a single motion, so there is no fiddly panel-by-panel setup like older lantern-style softboxes require. The same quick-fold action works in reverse at the end of a shoot, and the collapsed footprint is compact enough to slip into a kit bag alongside the rest of your lighting gear.

8-Sided Octagon Design

The eight-panel octagon shape gives the smooth, wraparound light spread that lantern-style softboxes are known for, rather than the harder-edged pattern of a rectangular softbox. Inside, a silver and white translucent lining reflects and diffuses the light for even coverage across the front face.

Compatibility:

The softbox attaches via a standard Bowens S-type fitting, with a speed ring included so it mounts directly without needing a separate adapter.

• SmallRig RC 220 Pro series lights
• Other Bowens S-mount point-source lights

Durable Stainless Steel Ribs

Eight high-strength stainless steel ribs support the octagon shape and keep it rigid once open, without adding unnecessary weight to the unit. A quick-release locking design also makes it faster to mount the softbox and switch it between lights compared with a standard slotted speed ring.

Silver Reflective Skirt and Storage Bag

A silver reflective light-control skirt is included to help contain spill and direct the light forward, and a dedicated storage bag keeps the folded softbox protected and easy to carry between locations.
