With this MPEG HD Recording Upgrade License from Sony, you can enable MPEG-format HD recording on your PXW-X70, PXW-Z90, or PXW-FS5 camcorder. MPEG video is used in many professional broadcast workflows and is compatible with most NLE software without requiring time-consuming format conversion. Depending on the application, two different bit-rates will be available for selection, 50 and 35 Mb/s. The 50 Mb/s affords 4:2:2 chroma subsampling for broadcast quality video, while the more streamlined 35 Mb/s selection offers 4:2:0 chroma subsampling.

MPEG HD422 and MPEG HD420 operating points*
The CBKZ-SLMP upgrade licence adds MPEG HD422 50Mbps and MPEG HD420 35Mbps recording capabilities to the PXW-X70, PXW-Z90, PXW-Z190 PXW-FS5 and PXW-FS5M2 camcorders.


* PXW-X70 and PXW-FS5 both require Version 3.0 firmware or above. PXW-Z190 requires Version 2.0 firmware or above (available from December 2018).
