DJI SDR Transmission Receiver Overview
For stable, high-quality video transmission on a small-to-medium-sized shooting set, the SDR Transmission Receiver from DJI is engineered for long-range reception of footage up to 1080p60 resolution using DJI's proprietary technology. SDR (Software Defined Radio) transmission leverages a tri-bandwidth (DFS, 2.4 GHz, and 5.8 GHz) automatic frequency-hopping system, ensuring high penetration and distances up to 1.9 miles. This system excels in transmitting footage from a camera rig to an unlimited number of receivers or mobile devices, making it perfect for crowded sets or environments with dense architecture where conventional consumer Wi-Fi solutions might falter.
Highlights:
Robust Transmission up to 10,000': The DJI SDR Transmission receiver can receive wireless video from up to 10,000' away from the transmitter using its proprietary SDR technology. This supports wide, dynamic filming areas and ensures smooth monitoring with minimal latency of just 35 ms.
High-Quality Image Transmission: The receiver supports video transmission with up to 1080p60 resolution and a high bit rate of up to 20 Mb/s, delivering smooth and detailed visuals, crisp audio, and vivid color for effective collaboration.
Seamless Auto-Frequency Hopping: SDR technology facilitates seamless auto-frequency hopping across the 2.4 GHz, 5.8 GHz, and DFS frequency bands. In the event of interference, it automatically switches to the cleanest channel, ensuring optimal performance in complex environments. Users can also manually switch channels and monitor channel quality via the app in SDR Control mode or Wi-Fi mode.
Unlimited Number of Receivers: In Broadcast mode, each transmitter can connect to an unlimited number of receivers, providing a high-quality monitoring experience for multiple collaborators and accommodating various professional monitoring needs.
Metadata Transmission: The receiver supports metadata transmission from mainstream cinema cameras such as ARRI and RED through the SDI input, giving directors, cinematographers, and DIT teams immediate access to detailed camera information.
Voice Call: The Voice Call feature allows for real-time one-on-one voice communication between the receiver and transmitter, facilitating seamless conversations between the cinematographer and director or client.
Camera/Gimbal Control: The SDR Transmission system supports PTP control over cameras, enabling display and adjustment of settings like aperture, shutter, and ISO, as well as triggering photo and video functions via the app. It also supports CEC control for Sony cameras with Mirror Control mode. When connected to a gimbal, it provides Force Mobile, virtual joystick, and gimbal recentering functions through the app.
Versatile USB-C Port: The receiver supports various monitoring methods and can output three SDR and two Wi-Fi signals simultaneously. It connects to monitors via SDI/HDMI and allows direct smartphone or tablet connection over Wi-Fi for enhanced compatibility. Additionally, the USB-C output enables direct connection to a smartphone or tablet for stable monitoring.
Camera Source Switching: In Broadcast mode, the receiver allows users to seamlessly switch between camera sources via the DJI Ronin app, facilitating quick monitoring of different cameras.
App Monitoring Tools: The app provides local recording and playback features, with recorded content available for review on the playback page. It also includes professional monitoring tools such as LUTs, peaking, waveform, and false color for an enhanced monitoring experience.
Power Options: The receiver can be powered through a USB-C cable using a USB PD fast charger, a standard USB power supply, or an L-series battery via its built-in port. It can also be mounted on the DJI RS 4 Pro, RS 4, or RS 3 Pro gimbal and powered directly by it, removing the need for a separate battery.
