Continuing to provide the latest digital cinema advances, the V-RAPTOR [X] 8K VV Camera pairs the strengths of the RED DIGITAL CINEMA V-RAPTOR line with the global shutter of the KOMODO camera and a native Nikon Z mount offering adjustable AF speeds, fluid iris control, and customizable lens responses.

Optimal 8K Resolution Performance

The powerful, all-purpose V-RAPTOR [X] Z Mount incorporates 8K resolution, crisp global shutter, optimal low-light performance, and high frame rate functions in a compact, feature-rich body weighing just over 4 lb.

New Large-Format Standard

This DSMC3 flagship camera is the first large-format global shutter camera and the first to offer RED's Global Vision with a suite of tools that provide unprecedented flexibility and dynamic range. Key features shared with the original V-RAPTOR include a single CFexpress Type B card slot that supports up to 8K120 capture and two unique 12G-SDI monitoring outputs. The V-RAPTOR [X] Z Mount also features a redesigned sensor cavity that mitigates stray light and improves contrast, plus improved in-camera audio preamps.

Nikon Z Lens Mount

• The V-RAPTOR [X] Z Mount's reinforced, locking Nikon Z lens mount has advanced iris, autofocus, and lens response capabilities.
• It offers toolless switching to additional RED mounts and compatibility with third-party adapters for a wide range of lenses. Use the V-RAPTOR [X] Z Mount with the RED Z to PL adapter for compatibility with upcoming /i PL lenses.

Dynamic Range

The 17+ stops of dynamic range in standard modes and up to 20+ with Extended Highlights enable the V-RAPTOR [X] Z Mount to deliver both smooth highlight roll-off and uncompromising low-light performance.

Phantom Track

The Phantom Track function streamlines any virtual production workflow using GhostFrame or frame remapping, capturing distinct R3D clips for each subframe slice in addition to enabling monitoring of either slice live on set over each SDI output. This enables your director and talent to work with a green screen background while the VF/X team can simultaneously view the frame without having to view or lock in that background. Phantom Track can also be used when applying dedicated ad overlays during a live broadcast.

Up to 8K at 120 fps

Unmatched frame-rate performance enables V-RAPTOR [X] Z Mount users to leverage creative elements like time-lapse or speed ramping or to extract ultrasharp still photos. Frame rate options include 8K, 6K, 4K, and 2K selections.

RED Global Vision

RED's Global Vision suite of tools uses the global shutter sensor to offer even greater flexibility and ease of use throughout your production process. These tools include Extended Highlights for increasing detail, producing finer HDR finishes or softer, more subtle highlight roll-offs when using SDR. Extended Highlights also offers 3+ stops of additional dynamic range, maintaining color and detail even within extreme highlights.

Durable, Rugged Design

Designed with water and dust-resistant materials in critical areas of its body, the V-RAPTOR [X] Z Mount is suitable for a wide variety of environments. However, it is not waterproof and should be handled like other high-end electronics.
