Compatible with both photography and video, this 1/8-density filter softens hard edges and provides a smoothing effect by reducing contrast and the overall value of highlights. It is frequently used to soften wrinkles, blemishes, and pores, creating a flattering image of a subject. The 1/8 density is rated for 87% light transmittance, providing a stronger black diffusion effect without a negative impact on image quality. This filter is also separately available in diffusion grades of 1/4 and 1/2.
