Overview
The Panasonic AK-UBX100 4K Multi Purpose Camera is a next-generation box-style broadcast system designed for studio production, sports, live event capture, and robotic workflows. Featuring a 2/3" bayonet mount, advanced oversampling 4K MOS sensor, and Panasonic’s unified operating platform, it delivers exceptional image performance, flexible IP production, and seamless interoperability with the AK-UCX100 and AW-UE160.
With up to 2,000 TV lines of horizontal and vertical resolution, support for simultaneous HLG (BT.2020) and SDR (BT.709), and robust connectivity including dual 12G-SDI and dual SFP+/28 interfaces, the AK-UBX100 ensures reliable, high-quality output for demanding broadcast environments. Its ultra-lightweight 1.9 kg design, flat mounting surfaces, and robotic-friendly layout make it ideal for specialty rigs, cranes, and gimbal applications.

Image Quality & Processing
The camera’s oversampling MOS sensor produces exceptional clarity with 2,000 TV lines of detail. Sensitivity reaches F10 (59.94 Hz) / F11 (50 Hz) in low-light mode, supported by a 62 dB or higher signal-to-noise ratio for clean, low-noise imagery even at high gain.
Hybrid Log Gamma (HLG) with BT.2020 primaries provides a wide dynamic range with accurate color reproduction. Simultaneous HDR/SDR workflows ensure compatibility across live broadcast and mixed-delivery environments.
System Integration & Unified Operation
The AK-UBX100 features unified operability with the AK-UCX100 and AW-UE160 through a shared GUI and Remote Operation Panel (ROP). Color matching, camera switching, and multi-camera operation are streamlined thanks to identical menu structures and control logic.
Integrated LAN-based control and tally simplify cabling, reduce on-site setup time, and allow efficient remote operation, log monitoring, and batch firmware updates.
IP Workflow & Redundant Connectivity
Supporting SMPTE ST 2110, NDI High Bandwidth, and SRT, the AK-UBX100 delivers flexible IP production options. Network redundancy under ST 2110 ensures consistent, uninterrupted 4K signal delivery in mission-critical production environments.
Dual SFP+/28 slots and dual 12G-SDI outputs enable optical/IP and baseband redundancy, as well as simultaneous clean/dirty or HDR/SDR output configurations.
Moiré Reduction Options
The AK-UBX100 provides two methods for moiré mitigation:
HD Optical Low-Pass Filter Replacement
The standard UHD OLPF can be swapped for an HD OLPF when working with fine patterns or LED screens, though UHD resolution is reduced.
Add-On HD Low-Pass Filter via Turret
This approach keeps the UHD OLPF in place while allowing selection of the HD OLPF via the turret. This configuration disables concurrent ND filtering.
Robotic & Specialty Mounting
The flat, tool-free mounting surfaces on all four sides, along with multiple 1/4" screw holes, make the AK-UBX100 ideal for cranes, gimbals, ceiling mounts, and robotic heads. Its lightweight 1.9 kg design reduces counterbalance requirements and expands lens and accessory compatibility.
Focus Functions
High-Precision Focus Assist
A focus indicator and image-plane phase-detection guide help operators maintain critical focus during fast-paced productions. VF Shadow Boost enhances visibility in dark areas of the frame.
Note: Built-In PDAF Autofocus*
Phase detection autofocus ensures rapid, reliable focus regardless of lens type. Target size, speed, and area selection can be customized for dynamic scenes. Manual override allows instant fine-tuning when needed. *AF support planned for future update.
