SmallRig 5257 Cage Overview

The SmallRig Cage for Nikon Z5II is a robust, precision-engineered camera cage built to offer full protection while significantly enhancing expandability. Featuring a durable three-point locking system—using a 1/4"-20 screw at the base and dual side locating blocks—the cage firmly secures the camera, eliminating unwanted movement during shoots. Soft internal pads shield the camera body from scratches, and the cage's design ensures unrestricted access to all buttons, ports, the flip screen, and battery compartment.

It comes equipped with a wide array of mounting options, including 1/4"-20 threaded and locating holes, and 3/8"-16 threaded holes, ideal for attaching handles, monitor mounts, tripods, power bank holders, and V-mount battery plates. A 1/4"-20 locating hole on the side accommodates accessories like rod clamps, magic arms, and side handles. The built-in HawkLock quick release NATO rail on the left side enables fast, tool-free attachment of side handles, while a cold shoe mount offers support for microphones and lights. Additional features include a wrist strap slot, QD socket for shoulder straps, and carry strap slots for safe lens-down camera transport.

The base of the cage integrates an Arca-Swiss quick release plate, allowing seamless mounting to Arca-compatible tripods and DJI RS series gimbals for swift transitions between handheld, tripod, and stabilizer setups. For extended shooting sessions, it supports V-mount battery plate systems. A double head wrench stored at the bottom ensures quick assembly and adjustments on the go. Note: Please remove the locating blocks on both sides of the camera before installing the cage.
