The Tamron 70-180mm f/2.8 Di III VC VXD G2 lens for Nikon Z-mount cameras builds upon the success of its predecessor with added Vibration Compensation image stabilization, improved autofocus compatibility, and support for the Tamron Lens Utility software and mobile app. Featuring a fully redesigned optical structure, it delivers exceptional image quality across the entire zoom range in a compact, lightweight, and weather-resistant build.
Compact Power and Portability
Designed as the world’s smallest and lightest F2.8 telephoto zoom in its class, the lens measures just 156.5 mm in length and weighs only 855 g. It maintains a fast F2.8 aperture while introducing optical image stabilization, delivering a perfect balance of performance, mobility, and image quality.
Outstanding Optical Performance
The optical design features 20 elements in 15 groups, including XLD, LD, and aspherical elements that minimize chromatic and optical aberrations. The BBAR-G2 coating reduces ghosting and flare, ensuring sharp, high-contrast results in any lighting condition. The wide F2.8 aperture produces beautiful, soft bokeh for expressive portraits and landscapes.
Advanced Vibration Compensation
Tamron’s proprietary VC system suppresses camera shake for stable shooting, particularly effective at telephoto focal lengths or in low-light conditions. AI-based stabilization automatically adjusts for smoother video capture below 100 mm.
Fast and Precise Autofocus
The VXD (Voice-coil eXtreme-torque Drive) linear motor delivers ultra-fast, accurate, and silent focusing. Enhanced tracking ensures reliable performance when photographing fast-moving subjects, making it ideal for sports, wildlife, or action scenes.
Enhanced Close-Up Capabilities
With a minimum object distance of 0.3 m at 70 mm and 0.85 m at 180 mm, the lens allows for near-macro performance with a 1:2.6 magnification ratio. This makes it suitable for tabletop and close-up photography with detailed rendering and smooth background separation.
Tamron Lens Utility Compatibility
