Image Quality & Performance

Autofocus & Stabilisation

The Silky Swift VCM autofocus system uses magnets to drive focus groups, providing faster, more accurate, and near-silent operation. A guide bar reduces focusing vibrations, improving continuous autofocus performance and reducing focus breathing—critical for video work. Full-time manual focus override is supported at all times.

Internal focusing keeps lens length constant during use, while the improved 6-stop VR system makes handheld shooting at slower shutter speeds practical and reliable.

Design & Handling

Internal zoom and focus ensure a constant 208 mm length. The Control Ring is assignable to aperture, exposure compensation, ISO, and more, with a click/de-click switch for tactile or silent operation. Two L-Fn buttons allow quick access to subject tracking, AF lock, image playback, and other functions.

The included HB-119 lens hood has a filter adjustment window for variable ND and polarising filters without removing the hood. A lightweight bayonet protective sleeve is included for handheld use. The Arca-compatible tripod foot allows stable mounting and smooth rotation.

Compatible with Nikon Z teleconverters, extending focal length to 98–280 mm with 1.4× or 140–400 mm with 2× teleconverter.
