The Canon EOS RP is a compact and lightweight camera packed with professional features, starting with a high-resolution 26.2MP full-frame CMOS sensor and a DIGIC 8 image processor. Capable of capturing both still and UHD 4K video, the camera offers a sensitivity range from ISO 100-40000, making it well-suited to working in low-light environments. You'll be able to capture moving subjects with up to 5 fps continuous shooting, and an advanced Dual Pixel CMOS AF system with 4779 selectable on-sensor phase-detection points ensures fast and accurate focusing during stills and video operation.

You'll be able to record UHD 4K (3840 x 2160) resolution recording at up to 23.98 fps at 120 Mb/s, along with Full HD 1080p and HD 720p at 60 fps for slow motion playback. When recording in-camera, 4K video has 4:2:0 sampling and 8-bit colour depth, and 4:2:2 8-bit output is possible when using an external recorder. Audio can be recorded using the on-board stereo microphone or an optional external mic via the 3.5mm mic jack. 5-axis Dual Sensing IS can also be used when recording video to electronically reduce the appearance of camera shake for sharper, smoother recording.

The Dual Pixel CMOS AF benefits shooting video, with a Movie Servo AF mode that offers smooth and natural focusing when changing from different subjects or different distances within the scene, as well as the ability to specify tracking sensitivity, AF speed, and Face or Eye Tracking priority. Benefited by the Touch AF system, rack focus is also possible simply by touching the touchscreen in order to change focus in an intuitive manner. Subject tracking in movies is also heightened due to the Dual Pixel CMOS AF system's ability to recognise subjects and maintain focus when working within changing or cluttered scenery. Additionally, the focus system is sensitive down to EV -5 for working in low-light conditions with accurate AF capabilities.

The RP offers a 2.36m-dot OLED electronic viewfinder and a rear 3.0" 1.04m-dot vari-angle touchscreen LCD monitor, allowing you to easily compose and review your shots from a range of angles. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are also available, making wireless remote camera control possible, as well as direct image sharing to linked mobile devices.

The camera uses a RF lens mount, which support Canon's line of RF-mount lenses. This mount has a wide 54mm diameter and short 20mm flange-back distance, which has allowed Canon to design lenses for this line that are both smaller and faster than their SLR equivalents. The mount also incorporates a 12-pin electronic contact system for more advanced autofocus and image stabilisation. This mount design is also compatible with existing EF and EF-S-mount lenses via an EF-EOS R Mount Adapter, which is included here.

Also included is the compact, lightweight, and close-focusing RF 35mm f/1.8 IS Macro STM from Canon, a unique wide-angle prime mixing the versatility of a general wide lens with the specialty of a 1:2 macro optic. An advanced optical design is benefitted by a Super Spectra coating, which helps to control flare and ghosting for greater contrast and colour accuracy when working in bright or backlit conditions. Capable of focusing down to 6.7" at half life-size, this lens is ideal for photographing everything from close-ups of plants to street scenes and landscapes. The bright f/1.8 maximum aperture offers increased control over depth of field and also suits working in a variety of lighting conditions.

Complementing this is a five stop-effective image stabilisation, which minimises the appearance of camera shake for sharper handheld shooting. Also, an STM motor affords impressively quiet and smooth autofocus performance and full-time manual focus override. Additionally, a configurable Control Ring lets you adjust exposure settings, including ISO, aperture, and exposure compensation, from the lens itself.
