Overview

The Venus Optics Laowa 15mm T2.1 Zero-D Cine Lens is an ultra-wide cinema prime for Sony E-mount cameras, covering full-frame sensors with a fast T2.1 to T22 aperture range and a 110° angle of view. It's currently the widest T2.1 lens on the market covering a full-frame sensor, built around a 12-element, 9-group optical design that includes two aspherical elements and three extra-low dispersion elements to control distortion and color fringing at this ultra-wide focal length.

Venus Optics' Zero-D design delivers distortion control that keeps straight lines straight from edge to edge, a key advantage for architecture and interior work as well as run-and-gun cinematography. A close focusing distance of 15cm supports a 0.25x maximum magnification for striking wide-angle close-ups, while 0.8 MOD cine gears on the focus and aperture rings suit standard follow-focus systems. At just 540g, the lens is compact and light enough to pair easily with gimbals and other stabilization rigs.
