Overview

The Venus Optics Laowa 7.5mm f/2 MFT Lens for Micro Four Thirds in this silver Ultralight Version is a super wide-angle rectilinear prime built for Micro Four Thirds mirrorless cameras, redesigned to shave 20g off the standard model for drone and gimbal work. It shares the same 7.5mm focal length (15mm full-frame equivalent) and f/2 to f/22 aperture range as the standard lens, making it just as capable for astrophotography, landscapes, and other wide-angle subjects, now in a lighter package for aerial photography. The optical design and metallic build quality carry over from the standard version, with some parts redesigned and replaced purely to cut weight.

Two aspherical elements and three extra-low dispersion elements control spherical and chromatic aberrations for sharper, clearer, and more colour-accurate imagery, while a Frog Eye Coating on the front element helps repel water and dust. The manual focus design permits working with subjects as close as 12cm away, and the lens accepts 46mm screw-in filters with a petal-shaped hood included. At this reduced weight, it remains well suited to drones and gimbals without sacrificing the optical performance of the standard version.
