Overview
Compact and capable, the Nikon Z5 Mirrorless Camera with NIKKOR Z 24-50mm f/4-6.3 Lens Kit pairs a well-rounded FX-format full-frame body with a sleek, retractable standard zoom for an easy grab-and-go setup. The Z5's 24.3MP CMOS sensor and EXPEED 6 processor deliver sensitivity to ISO 51200, UHD 4K video and a weather-sealed magnesium alloy build, while the bundled NIKKOR Z 24-50mm f/4-6.3 covers wide-angle to normal focal lengths in a slim, retractable design suited to walkaround and travel shooting, making the two a natural everyday pairing without needing to source a first lens.
Highlights
- A full-frame 24.3MP sensor and EXPEED 6 processor give sensitivity up to ISO 51200 and UHD 4K video.
- A 273-point hybrid autofocus system supports Eye Detection AF for both stills and video.
- 5-axis in-body Vibration Reduction compensates for up to five stops of shake with any lens.
- A weather-sealed magnesium alloy body suits demanding shooting conditions.
- Dual UHS-II SD card slots and SnapBridge connectivity round out an everyday-ready system.
24.3MP FX-Format Sensor and EXPEED 6 Processing
The full-frame 24.3MP CMOS sensor and EXPEED 6 processor combine for a native ISO 100-51200 range, expandable to ISO 102400, with clean image quality and smooth colour transitions throughout. A 273-point hybrid autofocus system using both phase- and contrast-detection supports Eye Detection AF and Face Detection for both stills and video, and for people and animals alike, while top continuous shooting reaches 4.5 fps at full resolution.
UHD 4K Video Recording
UHD 4K recording is supported at up to 30 fps using a 1.7x crop of the frame, while Full HD recording at up to 60 fps uses the entire sensor width, with files saved to the in-camera card slots or an optional external recorder via HDMI. In-camera time-lapse shooting can also produce a finished UHD 4K video file directly from the camera.
5-Axis Sensor-Shift Stabilization
Built-in 5-axis sensor-shift Vibration Reduction compensates for up to five stops of shake regardless of the lens in use, and continues to work with adapted F-mount lenses via the optional FTZ Adapter, applying 3-axis correction. Electronic VR further steadies handheld video footage.
Creative Shooting Modes
- 20 Creative Picture Controls, including Dream, Morning, Pop, Sunday, Somber, Dramatic, Silence, Bleached, Melancholic, Pure, Denim, Toy, Sepia, Blue, Red, Pink, Charcoal, Graphite, Binary and Carbon.
- Multiple Exposure mode combines several exposures into one frame for creative effects.
- Focus Shift mode automatically takes up to 300 sequential images while advancing the focus position, ideal for stacking extended depth of field on close-up and landscape subjects.
Body Design and Connectivity
A 3.2" 1.04m-dot tilting touchscreen and a 3.6m-dot OLED electronic viewfinder cover bright, clear composing and playback from high and low angles, while dual UHS-II SD card slots give fast, flexible file saving. The dust- and weather-resistant magnesium alloy chassis suits harsh conditions, and built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth work with the Nikon SnapBridge app for wireless image transfer and remote shooting. The included EN-EL15c battery is rated for approximately 470 shots per charge and supports in-camera USB charging even while shooting.
Nikon NIKKOR Z 24-50mm f/4-6.3 Lens
Featuring a sleek, retractable design, the NIKKOR Z 24-50mm f/4-6.3 is a compact standard zoom covering wide-angle to normal focal lengths, well suited to walkaround and travel shooting. A stepping motor delivers quick, quiet, precise autofocus with full-time manual focus override for stills and video, and three aspherical elements plus two low dispersion elements control aberrations for sharp, clear images. A Super Integrated Coating suppresses flare and improves contrast and colour accuracy, and a programmable control ring on the barrel can be set for quick adjustment of a range of camera and exposure settings.
