44.3MP Sensor and L2 Engine

The newly developed 44.3MP full-frame CMOS sensor pairs with Panasonic's L2 processing engine for expanded dynamic range, improved colour science and cleaner high-ISO performance across an ISO 40-102400 native range. Full-resolution shooting reaches up to 40 fps with AF-C/AF-S tracking, well suited to sports and wildlife, while a High-Resolution mode uses sensor-shift technology to produce 177MP composited stills, even when shooting handheld, ideal for landscape and studio work where maximum detail matters.

8K 30p and 4K 120p Video

The S1R II brings cinema-quality tools to LUMIX for the first time, with 8K 30p 10-bit internal recording, 6.4K open-gate capture for flexible cropping and reframing, and 4K 120p slow-motion for high-frame-rate work. Internal ProRes RAW HQ recording is joined by external RAW support, roughly 14 stops of dynamic range, and 32-bit float audio via the optional DMW-XLR2 adapter. On-set tools include waveforms, vectorscopes, Real-Time LUTs and False Color, alongside flexible codecs spanning ProRes, H.265 and All-Intra.

Phase Hybrid AF with AI Tracking

A 779-point phase-detection autofocus system, the first Phase Hybrid AF in the S1R line, delivers quick, precise focusing backed by AI-powered subject detection that recognises and tracks humans, animals and vehicles. Enhanced eye, face and body detection improves accuracy in low light and gives smoother, more natural focus transitions for both stills and video.

8-Stop 5-Axis IBIS and Active I.S.

An 8-stop 5-axis in-body image stabilization system keeps stills shake-free, extending to 7-stop Dual I.S. when paired with an O.I.S.-equipped L-Mount lens. For video, Active I.S. delivers cropless, stabilized footage even while walking or panning.

As the first wide-to-tele zoom lens added to the S-series lineup, it features a vast focal length range that lets you effectively capture portraits and landscapes without relying on multiple lenses. Built-in 5-axis image stabilization provides up to 6.5 stops of correction for sharp handheld shooting at low shutter speeds, while one aspherical element and four ED elements control optical aberrations and a 9-bladed circular diaphragm creates flattering, round bokeh. A fluorine coating on the front element helps resist oil and water, and two barrel switches allow quick AF/MF and image stabilization toggling. Among the smallest and lightest lenses of its class, it measures just 9.3 cm in length, focuses as close as 14 cm for 0.5x magnification at 28mm, uses a 67mm filter thread, and carries a dust- and splash-resistant build.
