The Sony FX6 Digital Cinema Camera Kit with 24-105mm Lens combines the FX6 full-frame digital cinema camera with the FE 24-105mm f/4 G OSS lens to deliver versatile, cine-style imaging in a compact, lightweight body. Capable of capturing over 15 stops of dynamic range, offering Sony’s S-Cinetone gamma for filmic skin tones, and recording up to 10-bit 4:2:2 XAVC-I, the FX6 is ideal as a complement to VENICE and FX9 systems or as a standalone solution for documentary, gimbal, and drone work. Powered by a 4K full-frame Exmor R sensor and BIONZ XR engine, the FX6 provides extremely sensitive capture using a base ISO of 800 or a high-sensitivity mode at ISO 12,800—suitable for nuanced low-light environments. Weighing under 890 g, the body is significantly lighter than the FX9 while offering comparable cine workflows and advanced autofocus tools, including Phase Detection AF, Face Detection, and real-time Eye AF. The camera incorporates electronically variable ND filters, a fully adjustable 3.5" touchscreen LCD monitor, and firmware-based enhancements such as 100p/120p S&Q options when recording RAW or RAW + XAVC-I. These capabilities make the FX6 adaptable for both single shooters and multi-camera productions. As a member of Sony’s Cinema Line, the FX6 shares numerous characteristics with VENICE and FX9, including a full-frame sensor, advanced color science, compact form factor, and robust professional interfaces. The FX6 matches many FX9 performance points and exceeds others, such as higher frame rate options and a wider ISO range. The 10.2 MP backside-illuminated sensor delivers improved low-light performance, fast readout speed to reduce rolling shutter, and compatibility with the full range of Sony E-mount lenses. Its 627 PDAF points support precise, high-speed autofocus tracking. S-Log3 Cine EI mode enables capture with exceptional latitude, preserving highlight and shadow detail for cinematic post-production flexibility. Base ISO 800 and high-sensitivity ISO 12,800 support various lighting environments, with a maximum ISO of 409,600 for extreme low-light performance. The FX6 supports XAVC-I and XAVC-L recording across multiple bit rates (35–600 Mb/s) and resolutions up to DCI 4K, enabling efficient, high-quality image capture with broad post-production compatibility. Sony’s S-Cinetone offers a filmic color response with natural skin tones. S-Log3, S-Gamut3, and S-Gamut3.Cine provide extensive grading latitude and consistent color matching with VENICE and FX9. The AF system supports Face Detection and Eye AF with configurable transition speed and subject sensitivity settings for precise, continuous tracking. Metadata-assisted stabilization, automated rotation of gimbal footage, and clip-flagging are available when pairing FX6 footage with Sony Catalyst software. The 3.5" LCD monitor provides touchscreen control of essential settings such as codec, scan mode, picture size, ISO, shooting mode, and audio levels. The FX6 uses a lightweight magnesium alloy shell with improved dust and moisture sealing for reliable field operation and extended recording. Two XLR inputs, a multi-interface shoe, and a built-in stereo mic enable simultaneous multi-source audio capture. The dual-slot system accepts CFexpress Type A or SDXC media. CFexpress Type A is required for UHD 4K 120p and HD 240p modes. The FX6’s modular layout supports compact gimbal/drone setups or expansion with a smart grip, handle, and repositionable LCD for ergonomic handheld operation. With the optional Content Browser Mobile app, users gain Wi-Fi remote monitoring and lens control functions.Overview
