Sensor, Processing & Image Quality
The 12.1MP full-frame sensor uses an Exmor RS back-illuminated design for improved clarity, lower noise, and increased sensitivity. The improved readout speed is twice as fast as previous generations, paired with the powerful BIONZ XR processor to deliver significantly reduced rolling shutter and up to eight times the overall processing power.
The sensor and processor combination achieves approximately 14 stops of dynamic range for stills and up to 15 stops for video, with continuous shooting up to 10 fps for approximately 1000 uncompressed raw images.
Video Capabilities
UHD 4K 120p Recording
Record UHD 4K at up to 120p using full 1:1 pixel readout without binning. Internal 10-bit 4:2:2 sampling is available in all modes, while the full-size HDMI port enables 16-bit raw output for advanced grading workflows.
Advanced Codecs
The camera supports XAVC HS (H.265), XAVC S, and all-intra XAVC S-I codecs at bitrates up to 600 Mb/s. These formats deliver high detail retention, efficient compression, and excellent flexibility for post-production.
Recording Flexibility
High-frame-rate recording enables 4x or 5x slow motion when played back at 30p or 24p. For Full HD, effective frame rates up to 240p offer even more creative slow-motion options. Unlimited recording times and enhanced heat dissipation allow extended 4K60p recording of approximately 60 minutes.
Color Science
S-Cinetone provides cinematic colour reproduction with natural mid-tones and soft highlights, matching Sony’s Cinema Line cameras. S-Log2 and S-Log3 offer expanded dynamic range for high-end colour grading.

A Classic, Evolved. The Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 DG DN II Art Lens features a refined optical design with improved sharpness, reduced aberrations, and faster autofocus in a more compact, lightweight body. Designed for full-frame Sony E-mount cameras, it is ideal for both stills and video creation.
Six FLD elements, two SLD elements, and five aspherical elements work together to reduce chromatic aberrations and enhance resolution. Advanced coatings minimise flare and ghosting for high-contrast, colour-accurate imaging even in backlit scenes. The bright constant f/2.8 aperture and 11-blade diaphragm deliver smooth, attractive bokeh.
A new high-response linear actuator (HLA) autofocus system provides focusing speeds more than three times faster than the previous generation. Minimum focusing distance improves to just 17 cm at 24mm with a macro reproduction ratio of 1:2.7.
The updated construction shortens the lens to 122.2 mm and reduces its weight to 735 g. The aperture ring includes click- and lock-switches, and the barrel incorporates rubber seals for improved dust and moisture resistance. Customisable AF-L buttons and an AF/MF switch support intuitive operation.
