Overview

The Venus Optics Laowa Aksen 17.5mm f/1.7 5-10x Ultra Macro APO Cine Lens with Coaxial Light Adapter (ARRI PL) is a full-frame cine-style macro lens built around an interchangeable ARRI PL mount, giving you the same 5 to 10x ultra macro magnification range as the photo version in a lens designed for motion work. Its fast f/1.7 maximum aperture and apochromatic optical correction keep images sharp and largely free of colour fringing even at high magnification, making it suited to creative, commercial, and scientific macro capture.

Cine-style 0.8 MOD gearing on both the iris and zoom rings lets you drive focus and aperture with standard follow-focus equipment, while the parfocal zoom design keeps the lens the same length and holds focus as you adjust magnification, so there is no need to reposition your camera or lighting. The lens ships with a tripod collar and two 15mm rods for mounting accessories, plus the coaxial light adapter that is central to the Aksen system's lighting approach.

Coaxial Light Adapter for Reflection-Free Macro

The included coaxial light adapter screws onto the front of the lens and supports an 8mm diameter light, projecting illumination straight down the optical axis through an internal beam splitter. This lights the subject without creating reflections, which is especially useful on reflective items such as circuit boards and coins where it brings out hidden colour and texture instead of glare.

5 to 10x Ultra Macro Magnification

Fixed focus lets you capture extremely close-up detail across a 5 to 10x magnification range simply by adjusting the position of your subject, down to a minimum working distance of 2.25 cm. Exposure compensation is required at higher magnifications. As a full-frame lens it can also be adapted to medium-format cameras, though vignetting will vary depending on the magnification used.
