Overview

The Metabones T CINE Speed Booster ULTRA 0.71x II puts full-frame ARRI PL cinema lenses on a Canon RF camera and keeps the look close to full-frame. On an APS-C body, or a full-frame body shooting in its APS-C crop mode, the optics inside the adapter condense the lens image onto the smaller sensor, so field of view and depth of field stay near what the lens gives on a full-frame camera. It is a fully manual adapter, with no electronic communication between lens and camera.

It is made for the compact Zeiss CP.2, CP.3 and CZ.2 prime series. Other PL lenses can work as long as the rear element sits no more than 14.5mm into the adapter, because a lens that reaches further can be damaged; Metabones keeps a list of compatible lenses on its website, so check it before pairing anything else.

Full-Frame Look on APS-C

The adapter widens the angle of view by 0.71x compared with the same lens on a bare APS-C body, bringing the 1.5x crop factor down to about 1.07x for a near full-frame image. It also lifts the maximum aperture by one stop, which helps in low light and makes shallow depth of field easier to reach.
