Overview

The PolarPro 82mm Peter McKinnon Signature Edition II Variable ND Filter (2 to 5-Stop) is a variable neutral density (ND) filter that lets you dial in between 2 to 5 stops of light reduction by turning its front ring, so one filter covers a range of bright conditions. With a density of 0.6 to 1.5, it darkens the whole frame so you can use a wider aperture or slower shutter speed without overexposing.

It screws onto lenses with a 82mm filter thread. Slowing the shutter adds blur and a sense of movement, while a wider aperture gives you tighter control over depth of field. It also gives you room to stick with a chosen ISO or film speed in bright light, or to hold a set frame rate on a cinema or video camera.

Haptic Ring Control

A numbered scale on the front ring shows the stop value, so settings are easy to repeat from shot to shot. The ring clicks as it passes each number, letting you adjust without taking your eye off the scene, and it is designed not to turn beyond the stop values etched on it. Side knurling gives a secure grip for fast, precise positioning.
