Overview

The NiSi ATHENA PL-Z Drop-In Lens Mount Adapter puts PL-mount cinema lenses on a Nikon Z camera and lets you slot filters in behind the lens instead of in front of it. It suits filmmakers who shoot ATHENA PRIME or other PL glass on mirrorless and digital cinema bodies that have no built-in ND.

A Clear drop-in filter comes in the box, and the slot also takes the full ATHENA drop-in range, including True Colour VND, True Colour CPL, Black Mist, Allure Streak and FS ND. Stainless steel mounts and a sealing ring at the camera mount keep the connection strong and help keep dust and moisture out.

Drop-In Filter System

Because the filter sits between the lens and the camera, one set of drop-in filters covers every PL lens you own, whatever its front diameter, with no matte box, step-up rings or front filters to deal with. Swapping a filter takes seconds. Gear teeth in the 0.8 MOD standard on the True Colour VND and CPL filters let a wireless lens control motor (not included) adjust strength or polarisation mid-shot, hands off the camera.

• 304 stainless steel front and rear mounts that stand up to repeated lens changes
• Sealing ring at the camera mount against dust and moisture
• Infinity focus with a filter fitted, as the adapter allows for the filter in the light path
• Fits the whole PL-mount ATHENA PRIME range and most other PL lenses, with rear elements protruding up to 25.8mm
• Light 229 g body without a filter, so it adds little to a gimbal or handheld rig
• Cage or top plate close to the mount can block filter changes or stop the adapter being fitted with a filter in; remove the filter, mount the adapter, then slide the filter back in
