The newly developed 44.3MP full-frame CMOS sensor offers a balanced approach to high resolution, speed, and low-light performance. Paired with Panasonic's L2 Engine, it delivers expanded dynamic range for better highlight and shadow detail, up to 40 fps shooting with AF-C/AF-S for sports and wildlife work, improved color science for natural rendering, and enhanced noise reduction at high ISO speeds (ISO 40-102400 expandable). A 177MP High-Resolution mode composites eight sensor-shift exposures into a single ultrahigh-resolution image, ideal for landscape and studio photography where extreme detail matters most.

Its bright f/2 maximum aperture creates soft, beautiful bokeh for strong subject separation in portraits, while also helping maintain faster shutter speeds in low light without pushing ISO unnecessarily. Sized to match the compact LUMIX S9 body and sharing the same 62mm filter thread as the LUMIX S 18-40mm f/4.5-6.3, the lens measures just 4.1cm in length and weighs 144g, keeping the overall kit light and easy to carry alongside the S1R II's high-resolution body. A control ring and focus button support intuitive manual control, while focus breathing suppression and micro-step aperture control keep exposure and focus transitions smooth during video recording.
