Super35 Sensor & 8K Performance

The 26.21 x 13.82 mm Super35 CMOS sensor provides a classic cinema look with high resolution and practical field usability. With up to 16.5+ stops of dynamic range and RED’s IPP2 colour science, the camera captures rich tonal gradation across challenging lighting environments.

Frame rate options extend to 120 fps in 8K, 240 fps in 4K, and up to 480 fps in 2K, enabling dramatic slow-motion capture. The high 8K resolution also allows reframing and multiple crops from a single take without sacrificing image quality.

Lens Flexibility & Autofocus

The locking Canon RF mount supports a broad range of RF lenses and compatible RF-to-EF adapters, expanding lens options for broadcast and cinema productions. Phase-detect and contrast-detect autofocus are available with supported lenses, enhancing efficiency for handheld and fast-paced shooting environments.

DSMC3 Design & Control

The compact DSMC3 form factor is engineered from aluminium for durability while maintaining a lightweight build of approximately 1.83 kg (body only). Measuring approximately 15.6 x 10.8 x 10.8 cm, it integrates seamlessly into gimbal, handheld, and shoulder-mounted configurations.

Right-Side Assistant Interface

A built-in 2.4" LCD on the assistant side provides full camera control, format selection, status display, and customizable settings. This panel is dedicated to control and does not function as a preview monitor.

Connectivity & Workflow

Dual 12G-SDI outputs provide professional monitoring and broadcast integration. Additional connections include USB-C for control and data, timecode, 5-pin LEMO mic/line input with +48 V phantom power, 3.5 mm headphone output, and CFexpress Type B recording media.

Built-in Wi-Fi enables wireless 1080p preview and remote control via RED Control and RED Control Pro apps for Android and iOS devices.

Power Options

The integrated Micro V-Mount battery interface supports professional power solutions for extended production use. The included 150W AC power adapter provides reliable studio operation when mains power is available.
