Samyang's Ultra-Wide Manual Prime
The Samyang MF 14mm f/2.8 WS Mk2 is an ultra-wide-angle manual-focus prime built for full-frame Sony E-mount mirrorless cameras, and it's especially well suited to astrophotography, architecture and landscape work. Its 14-element, 10-group optical design combines aspherical, low-dispersion and high-refractive-index elements to control colour fringing, aberration and distortion for sharp, accurate images. Used on an APS-C body, it delivers a 21mm full-frame equivalent focal length.
Complex 14-Element Optical Design
The 14-element, 10-group design incorporates one aspherical element, one hybrid aspherical element, two extra-low dispersion elements and three high-refractive-index elements, working together to reduce spherical and chromatic aberration and colour fringing while improving sharpness, clarity and colour accuracy. An Ultra Multi-Coating is applied to individual elements to minimise ghosting and flare for better contrast and colour neutrality in strong lighting.
Manual Focus with Internal Focusing
Manual focus operation with an internal focusing design lets you work with subjects as close as 28cm away without the lens changing length during focusing. A focus lock ring secures the focus position to prevent accidental changes, useful for astrophotography and other long-exposure or interval-based work.
Weather-Sealed Metal Housing
A weather-sealed metal housing supports use in inclement conditions, while a built-in petal-shaped lens hood blocks stray light from reaching the front element and adds a degree of physical protection.
De-Click Aperture Ring for Video
The aperture ring can be de-clicked to move smoothly between f-stops rather than stopping at each one, suiting video work where continuous, stepless aperture adjustments are needed.
