A lens hood is a must for every D-SLR photo enthusiast. They are primarily designed to avoid unwanted stray light from entering the lens by extending and shading the end of the lens. The screw thread of the lens hood is easily attached to the filter thread of the lens. The shade is made of silicone which will also protect your lens from damage caused by shocks.

The hood is adjustable to three different positions. Extend it all the way out for telephoto, midway for a standard hood, and retract the hood for wide angle. This lens hood can be left on your camera at all times which actually helps protect your camera since the retracted hood acts as a shock absorber. Vignetting may still occur depending on the camera and lens being used. Filters can be mounted on the hood directly without having to remove the hood itself from the camera.
