Overview

The Viltrox 85mm f/1.8 Lens for Sony E is a short-telephoto prime lens designed for full-frame Sony E-mount mirrorless cameras, well suited to portraiture and other subject-isolating work; when used on an APS-C Sony E body it provides a 127.5mm full-frame equivalent focal length. Its bright f/1.8 maximum aperture excels in difficult lighting and offers plenty of control over depth of field for shallow focus techniques, with an aperture range extending to f/16 for added versatility.

The optical design comprises one extra-low dispersion element alongside four elements made from highly transparent glass, working together to reduce chromatic and spherical aberrations for high clarity and sharpness. An HD Nano multi-layer coating suppresses flare and ghosting for improved contrast in strong lighting, while a water-resistant finish helps protect the exposed glass surfaces from moisture. An STM autofocus motor delivers quick, quiet focusing performance, with a minimum focus distance of 80cm for working with closer subjects.

Reduced Aberrations for Sharp Images

Flare-Resistant Nano Coating

Electronic Aperture Control

Electronic contacts convey EXIF data to the camera body and permit camera-based aperture selection, keeping control over exposure fully in the camera's hands.
