Overview

The PolarPro McKinnon Chroma VND/PL Gold Mist Filter for Helix MagLock (2 to 5-Stop, Grade 1/8) combines variable neutral density (ND) and a circular polarizer (CPL) with gold mist diffusion in one filter. Gold particles inside the Chroma Glass give a 1/8 grade of golden bloom and halation on highlights, while midtones and shadows keep their natural colour detail.

The ND ring cuts light by 2 to 5 stops (0.6 to 1.5 density) and the polariser ring reduces glare and reflections, each controlled independently in a bi-rotational design. It fits the Helix MagLock filter system.

Chroma Glass & Controls

The Chroma Glass lets the filter have two separate, independently controlled elements for neutral density and polarisation, and it improves colour accuracy because the only colour change comes from the polariser. Ball bearings at each stop lock the VND setting in place, so it won't drift mid-shot, and 16 layers of anti-scratch, anti-reflective and anti-fingerprint coatings leave the glass multi- and resistance-coated.
