Overview
The PolarPro Recon Variable ND Compact Matte Box System (Director's Kit) was built to take the hassle out of carrying a full-size matte box while keeping its speed and versatility in changing light. It brings together a matte box, a variable ND filter, a mist filter and a blue streak filter in a fraction of the space.
The Aero Hood has an aluminium lever lock and is slotted to cut wind drag on aerial or vehicle rigs, and its carbon fibre flag adjusts to block different light angles. An 82mm thread base mounts the hood and the Stage 2 filters, and Defender caps and a storage pouch complete the kit.
Included Filters
- VND 3 to 6+: 3 to 6 stops of density with no cross-polarisation, up to 7.5 stops beyond 35mm, with haptic feedback at 3 and 6 stops
- Recon Mist 1/4: smooths highlights and adds a subtle bloom to light sources
- Recon Stage 2 BlueMorphic: anamorphic-style blue streaks, most effective on bright points such as car headlights
Stage 2 Filters
- Recon Stage 2 filters fit both the VND base and the 82mm thread base
- Swap filters quickly, without threading them or touching the glass
- Defender protective front and back caps give 360° protection
