Overview

The SmallRig 5642 Cage for Sony Alpha 1 II and Alpha 9 III is purpose-built for wildlife and telephoto photography. Its reinforced three-point locking system secures the camera body, reducing deflection and improving long-lens stability, while internal protective pads prevent scratching. An integrated teleconverter support works with Sony FE 1.4x and 2.0x teleconverters to reduce strain on the lens mount during extended shooting.

Quick Release Features

The left side includes a HawkLock quick release NATO rail for rapid attachment and removal of compatible side handles (ID4485, 5633).

Compatibility and Transition

A built-in Arca-Swiss quick release plate allows direct mounting to Arca-type tripods (ID4060) and supports DJI RS 2, RSC 2, RS 3, RS 3 Pro, RS 4, and RS 4 Pro gimbals. This enables smooth transitions between handheld, tripod, and stabilizer configurations.

Durability and Maintenance

The cage uses a durable, wear-resistant coating to maintain a professional appearance after extended field use. A concealed double-head wrench is integrated into the base for convenient tightening and adjustments.

Note: Remove the teleconverter support before installing the camera onto a stabilizer.
