Lightweight Reach for Sports and Wildlife
The Sony FE 300mm f/2.8 GM OSS is a fast telephoto prime built for photographing sport, wildlife, and press events at distance. A bright f/2.8 maximum aperture isolates subjects with shallow depth of field, while a design roughly 50% lighter and 43% smaller than Sony's FE 400mm f/2.8 GM OSS keeps it manageable for handheld shooting over long sessions.
G Master Optics
Super ED and ED glass elements minimize chromatic aberration and color fringing, while Nano AR Coating II suppresses internal reflections that cause flare and ghosting. A rounded 11-blade diaphragm contributes to the smooth, pleasing bokeh Sony's G Master series is known for.
Dual Linear Motor Autofocus
A dual XD (Extreme Dynamic) Linear Motor system drives quick, quiet autofocus on fast-moving subjects, backed by updated AF algorithms for improved responsiveness. Full-time direct manual focus and a focus range limiter switch add further control when precision matters more than speed.
Optical SteadyShot Stabilization
Built-in Optical SteadyShot compensates for camera shake when shooting handheld, with three selectable modes for general shooting, panning, and tracking erratic subjects. On bodies with in-body stabilization, 5-axis support is available for extra steadiness.
Weather-Sealed Magnesium-Alloy Build
Magnesium-alloy construction keeps the lens lightweight without sacrificing durability, and weather-sealed construction with a fluorine-coated front element protects against dust, moisture, and fingerprints in the field.
