DSLR Handling with Mirrorless Speed
The Sony Alpha SLT-A57 pairs DSLR-style handling and control with the speed and convenience of Translucent Mirror Technology, letting you shoot continuously autofocused stills and Full HD video without a moving mirror slowing things down. A 16.1MP APS-C Exmor HD CMOS sensor delivers strong image quality and low-light sensitivity, backed by an ISO range of 100 to 16000.
Continuous Autofocus at 12fps
Translucent Mirror Technology feeds light to both the image sensor and AF sensor at once, enabling continuous autofocus tracking during burst shooting and video recording. A 15-point AF system, including 3 cross-type points, keeps moving subjects sharp, and Tele-zoom Continuous Advance Priority mode can shoot at up to 12fps at reduced resolution, or up to 10fps at full resolution.
Auto Portrait Framing
Auto Portrait Framing automatically recognizes portrait situations and recomposes the shot around your subject's position, gaze, and lighting, using Face Detection, Smile Shutter, and Face Registration alongside Clear Image Zoom to create a second, tightly cropped file with minimal loss of image quality.
Tru-Finder EVF and Tiltable LCD
The Tru-Finder electronic viewfinder offers 100% coverage with a live preview of exposure and white balance changes before you shoot, while the 3.0" 921,600-dot LCD tilts up to 180° and rotates up to 270° for shooting from awkward angles.
Full HD Video with Continuous AF
Full HD 1080p video recording in AVCHD 2.0 format benefits from the same continuous autofocus as stills shooting, with manual exposure control available for creators who want full control over aperture and shutter speed during recording.
