A newly developed 33MP Exmor R BSI CMOS sensor uses a back-illuminated design for high clarity, low noise and vivid colour rendering, backed by a broad ISO 100-51200 sensitivity range. Dynamic range reaches approximately 15 stops, with files recorded in raw, JPEG or 10-bit HEIF. The BIONZ XR processor drives fast continuous shooting, 4K video recording and advanced AF tracking, while reducing rolling shutter and other motion distortion.

Up to 10fps Shooting with Deep Buffer

Continuous shooting reaches up to 10fps with AF/AE enabled using either the mechanical or electronic shutter, and the buffer holds up to 828 consecutive uncompressed raw+JPEG frames when paired with a CFexpress Type A card.

4K 60p Video in 10-Bit

• UHD 4K 24p/60p XAVC HS recording using the full sensor width, with 7K oversampling for sharp detail.
• Additional 4.6K oversampled capture with a Super 35 crop for UHD 4K output up to 60p in 10-bit.

S-Cinetone delivers natural mid-tones and soft, well-controlled highlights drawn from Sony's Cinema Line cameras, while HLG support enables HDR-ready recording straight from the camera. S-Log3 offers a 15+ stop dynamic range for greater grading control in shadows and mid-tones.

Fast Hybrid AF with Real-Time Tracking

A Fast Hybrid AF system covers around 94% of the frame with 759 phase-detection points, focusing accurately down to -4 EV. Real-time Tracking uses AI-based subject recognition for colour, pattern and distance information, while Real-time Eye AF refines focus on human, animal and bird eyes and keeps tracking a subject's eye even after it leaves and re-enters the frame.

3.68m-Dot EVF and Vari-Angle Touchscreen

The QVGA OLED Tru-Finder EVF offers 3.68m-dot resolution with 60fps or 120fps refresh, a 0.78x magnification and a 23mm eye point for sharp, comfortable viewing. A side-opening 3.0-inch vari-angle touchscreen with 1.03m-dot resolution can face forward for vlogging or tilt for high and low angles, with full touch control over shooting and menus.

5-Axis SteadyShot Image Stabilization

A 5.5-stop effective 5-axis in-body stabilization system compensates for pitch, yaw, horizontal and vertical shift, and roll, working even with adapted or third-party lenses. An Active IS mode adds extra stabilization for smoother handheld video.
