Optical Performance

The lens incorporates molded glass aspherical, XLD, and LD elements to suppress chromatic aberrations and distortion. A 9-blade rounded diaphragm produces smooth, pleasing bokeh that enhances portrait and subject-focused imagery. BBAR-G2 coating reduces flare and ghosting while improving contrast and color fidelity, even in backlit conditions.

Autofocus & Control

Tamron’s VXD (Voice-coil eXtreme-torque Drive) linear motor uses electromagnetic motion for highly responsive and near-silent focusing. The lens is compatible with Tamron Lens Utility, allowing customization of autofocus behavior and focus ring response. A zoom lock switch prevents unwanted barrel extension during transport.
