Overview

The Laowa ACRIS 35mm f/2.8 1X Macro APO Lens (Manual Focus, L-Mount) is a full-frame macro lens for L-Mount cameras that does something few 35mm lenses can: true 1:1 life-size magnification. Where most lenses this wide stop at half life-size, the ACRIS fills the frame with a subject the size of the sensor, while its wider view still shows where that subject lives. With an f/2.8 to f/22 aperture range, it suits product, food and nature macro and environmental close-ups.

An apochromatic optical design keeps colours clean and fringing away, even wide open in high-contrast scenes. As a manual focus lens, it gives you direct, precise control over the very thin depth of field you work with at life size. The f/2.8 aperture melts busy backgrounds, and an all-metal, weather-resistant body is made for shooting outdoors.

Life-Size Macro at 35mm

At 1:1, a subject appears on the sensor at its real size, twice the detail of the 1:2 ratio most 35mm lenses manage. Longer macro lenses isolate a subject from everything around it; the 35mm view keeps the leaf, the plate or the forest floor in the shot, so your close-ups tell a story. The working distance still leaves room for lighting and for live subjects, and the perspective stays natural and wide.

APO Glass for Clean Colour

The apochromatic design brings red, green and blue light to the same point of focus, which all but removes the colour fringes that show up on shiny edges and high-contrast detail. That matters most in macro, where every edge is magnified. Sharpness and contrast hold from infinity right down to 1:1, whether you shoot at f/2.8 or stop down for more depth, so there is less to fix in editing.

Manual Focus for Macro Control

This version focuses manually. At 1:1 the depth of field is razor thin, and turning the focus ring yourself lets you place focus exactly on the detail that matters, or move through a focus stack one step at a time. The lens focuses as close as 18 cm for full life-size shots.
