Overview

The RODE RODECaster Video S All-in-One Audio/Video Console is a streamlined production console that combines video switching and recording with studio-grade audio mixing for podcasters, streamers, and solo creators. It offers intuitive control of multiple sources using onboard controls, a 2" touchscreen display, and a rotary encoder.

A range of connections—including HDMI and USB-C, NDI streaming, and wired or wireless networking—supports flexible workflows. Integrate it with a wider RODE ecosystem using USB-C audio ports and RODE Central software for deeper configuration.

Video Interface

The console offers nine mix-effect layers that can be combined in preview and program views to create layered compositions. It includes downstream keyers for overlays and logos, chroma keying for backgrounds, and media playback support for MP4 video, PNG/JPG images, and WAV audio from external USB storage.

Multiview provides visibility into program and preview, all live inputs, scene and media thumbnails, the audio mixer and channel status, and recording/network/storage status, along with runtime and date/time information. Scenes can be created, saved, and recalled quickly to keep productions moving.

Switch between up to four 1080p60 video sources (three HDMI and one USB-C) and build scenes that combine live video, media, and graphics. The console can also accept up to four NDI streams, such as PTZ cameras, for streaming workflows.

USB Microphone and Webcam Support

USB connectivity supports select RODE USB microphones and compatible webcams for direct input, expanding the console’s source options for streaming and recording setups.

Audio Sources and Processing

Two combo XLR-1/4" inputs provide studio-style capture for microphones and instruments, supported by low-noise, high-gain preamps with phantom power. USB-C audio connections allow integration with compatible RODE USB microphones and RODECaster devices, with additional USB-C ports supporting multichannel I/O and mix-minus workflows.

Built-in wireless receivers connect compatible RODE Series IV wireless microphones. Onboard processing includes EQ, compression, noise gate, high-pass filter, de-esser, and additional effects per channel, with control available via the touchscreen/encoder or RODE Central.

Controls and Production Tools

Scene-based switching prioritizes fast access to essential production tools. Chroma keying tools support background replacement, and media/graphic controls enable quick triggering of clips, images, and overlays. Intelligent auto-switching can link audio inputs to video sources to automatically follow active speakers for hands-free switching.

Streaming, Recording, and Software

Stream directly using RTMP/RTMPS to major platforms via Wi-Fi 6 or Ethernet, with real-time signal health reporting in multiview. Record to external USB storage or internal media storage, including options for more flexible postproduction workflows such as isolated audio recording. Use RODE Central on macOS or Windows for advanced setup, scene building, switching configuration, and profile management.
